Cosmetic eye surgery is performed around the eye area and not on the eye itself. the objective is to reduce signs of aging and to make the face look attractive and young. The surgery can be performed on the eye lids and the surrounding areas. These include the following:
- Blepharoplasty – Reshaping of upper and lower eyelids
- Asian blepharoplasty – This procedure is used to create a supratarsal epicanthic fold in the upper eyelid of the patient who does not initially have this crease. The supratarsal epicanthic fold is is absent in approximately half of the Asian ethnic communities and hence the demand for this surgery in Asia.
- Eyelid plastic surgery – Includes all of the above and also correction of deformities.
These surgeries were initially aimed at correcting deformity or defects of the eyelids or the surrounding areas. However, over time it has gained significance as a beauty enhancement tool. The surgeries involve addition, correction or repositioning of the eye lids.

Cosmetic eye surgery cost
This should be in the range of $3,500 to $5,000. The big component of the cost structure would be the surgeons fees – more the experience higher the fees. It is a fact that most health insurance providers do not cover this cost but financing is generally available for cosmetic eye surgery.
Make sure that you have a proper consultation with your surgeon while also evaluating the different options available. In most cases, cosmetic eye surgery is not easliy reversible so its worthwhile taking a cautious approach.
